The main features that make this device so good is the larger screen and the PDF reader. Most people that have bought the DX have said that they get far more text per page.The screen is also sharper and crisper than the previous Kindle making it the better visibility experience overall. The screen rotation also works perfectly which makes it the best improvement on any Kindle so far.
The Kindle DX is a bit heavier. This would only make it an issue if you read while you walk meaning you’re holding the device in one hand. Even so, I tend to look at it as an extra exercise for my arms meaning I won’t have to go to the gym. The keyboard has four rows instead of five. This means that the numbers that were on the top row have been removed. Numbers are now only accessible with an alt-key combination.
Overall, Amazon really made a brilliant move with the DX. It does exactly what they said it will do and some more. There is no other digital reader that comes close to the Kindle when you look at the whole package including the Amazon service.

Keep in mind that there is no right or wrong choice. It’s fully up to you and what your intentions are.
What are your screen preferences, E-ink or color LCD?
This is a very important factor when I compare ereaders as I can’t stand looking in the computer screen for more than an hour. I was born with bad eyes, what a pain in my “derriere”. I have a special protector on my computer screen that makes it less harsh on my eyes and decreases my chances of becoming totally blind. Anyways, if you relate to me, STAY AWAY FROM THE LCD’s. The only advantages I could find about LCD’s are that you can read at night and are able to see videos.
On the other hand, e-ink screen is without doubts the best for reading books. It’s kind of hard to describe an e-ink screen as you have to see it for yourself. Think of it as if you were reading a newspaper on the screen. To put it in easier words, its digital ink. This means that you can go out on a sunny day, and read with no problems as sunlight does not affect it.
